Landesgraduiertenkolleg Hydrogen and hydrogen derivative ammonia

In the Landesgraduiertenkolleg Wasserstoff und Wasserstoffderivat Ammoniak, young scientists are researching the potential of ammonia produced from renewable sources, which could play an important role in the energy system alongside hydrogen in the future. They are investigating the entire life cycle of the hydrogen derivative ammonia, from synthesis and use through to hydrogen recovery. Economic, ecological, systemic and safety-related cross-cutting issues relating to the use of ammonia are also being considered. The overarching aim is to consider the advantages and disadvantages compared to other hydrogen derivatives and to work out in which applications ammonia should preferably be used.

Project Foundation

The research network is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation as part of the zukunft.niedersachsen program of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK).
